WHAT WE PROVIDE...

Youth mentoring services in two settings - Community-Based since 1987 and School-Based since 1990.

BBBS recruits, screens, trains, and matches volunteer mentors to children referred by elementary school teachers, counselors, human service agencies and parents. Case Managers take into consideration the interests, needs and location of the child and volunteer mentor before making a "match". Based on the referral information identifying the needs for each child, the BBBS Case Manager together with the volunteer, parent (and teacher when school-based) develops an individual plan to guide the mentoring relationship. Mentors commit to at least six months with the majority of mentors completing the entire year.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters brand of mentoring is not a set program but rather a system for delivering the safest, most consistent, and most productive mentoring relationships possible. All parties who participate in BBBS matches are contacted monthly to assure that goals and direction are clear, all parties are communicating, and the highest levels of safety are being followed. This is the hallmark of the BBBS service that ensures long life and continuity to the Big and Little mentoring match.
